RUN FAM ON THE GO!

ISSUE #2

Hey RunFam, the 2nd edition of RunFam on the Go, our new community newsletter, is here!

March 8th is International Women’s Day – an occasion to celebrate the achievements of girls and women, and to promote gender equality. We’ve chosen to celebrate by highlighting some of the Run Fam who inspire us.

The truth is that every single member of our Run Fam inspires us – you’re all amazing – but we had to draw the line somewhere and only select a few, as it would have been a very, very long article otherwise!

At I Love to Run Running Club, all runners are welcome, regardless of the speed you run, the distance you run, the events you run, or the reasons why you run. With RunFam on the Go!, we provide you with weekly news about running events and we celebrate the achievements of runners in our community.

Best,

The I Love to Run Team

Today, we’ve picked a handful of women who in some way represent the incredible achievements of the I Love to Run community.

Happy International Women’s Day to all the female runners in the community! Hope you all have a great day no matter where you are ! What a Special Marathon Day here regardless the coronavirus !!! 💗💗💗
Even though the Nagoya Women’s Marathon has been canceled due to the coronavirus! I am glad that the organizer still offer us this opportunity to run online! I am so grateful that I have friends to come to support me ! Even though I ran all the way by myself ! But I knew there would be someone waiting for me at some certain point , which really motivated me and kept me going ! Feeling blessed ! It is such a meaningful and well celebrated women’s day !🏃🏽‍♀️🏃🏽‍♀️🏃🏽‍♀️

Big step for me today! It was my 1st outdoor run since early Nov & I did 5 miles! 😁 On Nov 21 I donated a kidney to a stranger & knew I’d have to take some time off for recovery. ♻️ But in early Nov I was diagnosed with a stress fracture in my right hip after running my 2nd half marathon & was told to stop running immediately. It made me really depressed b/c it was a few weeks before I was ready. I was finally cleared post-kidney surgery mid Jan & then cleared from my Ortho doc at the end of Jan to start running again (short distances, slower pace). For the last month I’ve been cautious w/ all of my healing so I stuck to my treadmill in the basement. But this weekend I felt I was READY & finally took my run outside. LOVE seeing the sunrise. 🌅 Just over 3 months since I had my last outdoor run. I figured this group would understand.

I’m a happy girl yesterday I ran the Orange Blossom half marathon I set my self a goal to finish in 2:20 I freakin did it!!! It was a tough course lots of hills, dirt roads, cold and awful wind specially going up the hills it was brutal. My past half’s I finish between 2:48, 2:46 and 2:38. I been trying to figuring out my struggle with my pace. I starter running 3 1/2 years ago my pace was between 8’s and 9’s when I starter training for my first half all of the sudden my pace change ever since I can’t seem to get it back. The past 8 weeks I been working hard on my pace by adding HIIT classes and running more. Best part is having a friend who will explain and figure out my issue. It’s definitely mental struggle in running he gave me some pointers to help me with my runs. But this half yesterday was both I was dealing with mental and physical on mile 7 at was physically tired on mile 10 all I wanted to do is cry give up😂 last 3 miles I kept saying I’m almost there last mile I was determined to give my all and I did!!! Through this run I kept thinking of a runner in our group who runs over 100 miles a week on a treadmill. I kept thinking how in the world those he do this every day. It takes determination, discipline, learning more and the love for running.

Happy international women’s day!💪🏼
Got in 10 miles today! 🤗

I went to pause my watch waiting to cross a intersection and hit end instead.
Does anyone else with an Apple Watch always hit end instead of pause too??! 🤦🏻‍♀️ I swear I’m always doing this.🙄

To celebrate International Women’s Day I went out and ran 10 miles on this sunny, 57° day. I am working on 4 hours or so of broken sleep. I almost quit halfway through until a random stranger gave me the thumbs up from his car just as I was finishing the first loop. Thank you random stranger for keeping me motivated to keep going. I also ran my fastest 10 miles. Run Streak Day 57. 210 miles for 2020.

Yesterday I completed my first official half marathon! My goal was 2 hours and I beat it! I knocked 16 minutes off my fastest time. I also placed 3rd in my age group! I never even thought it was a possibility for me to of place. I did puke right after I crossed the finish line but it was worth every last second I pushed. This group helped me so much and not to mention my hubby also ran his first half partially to support me even though he told me to go ahead of him. Thank you all so much and I hope to see you at a race!
